NZ0307 : Stang forest bridleway

taken 14 years ago, near to East Hope, County Durham, England

Stang forest bridleway
Stang forest bridleway
The bridleway that runs from NZ0408 : Black Hill Gate along Hope Edge to the Stang road would be quite difficult on horseback, as it ducks and weaves under trees without a lot of clearance in places. It's always quite technical for skiing, too. Someone has managed to drive a quadbike along it, however, and that definitely looks difficult. This point used to be the place on the uphill and westward trip when a view first opened up, but now a large area along the scarp has been clear cut, there is a view over Teesdale for the whole of the way from here to the road.
