Part of the line of tank traps that stretches for over 12 miles from Aberdeen in the south to Rockend in the north. Built in 1940 in anticipation of a German invasion and designed to impede the landing of tanks and other vehicles. At this point there are 2 rows of traps, instead of the usual one, suggesting that they were defending a gun battery or strong point of some kind now buried in the dunes. The site is also unusual in having cylindrical concrete blocks in addition to the usual cubes.
