Down Cathedral
Down Cathedral
As cathedrals go, Down Cathedral is quite small but its connection with St Patrick and it history of building, destruction and rebuilding gives it a special air. It is said to have its origins in the medieval period but was in ruins when visited by Wesley in 1778. Restoration started in 1790 but consecration did not take place until 1818.
