Fawley Ford and footbridge, Beaulieu River, New Forest
Fawley Ford and footbridge, Beaulieu River, New Forest
The footbridge leads across the Beaulieu River from the Beaulieu Estate's North Gate to the improved lawn of Gurnetfields Furzebreak (visible on the far side of the river). The approaches and footbridge are fairly high above the level of the river and have not succumbed to flooding like the footbridges further upstream. The ford to the left of the footbridge is called Fawley Ford - an old path leads due east from here towards Fawley, over the Hilltop heath and crossing the Dark Water at Hardley Bridge.
