Burton the Tailor, George Street, Tamworth
The Burton shop has been here since 1936 - see SK2003 : The Burton foundation stone, George Street, Tamworth for the foundation stone. The Heritage Trail leaflet states that Burton took over what had been John Thornburn’s Picture House "and retains the original 18th century frontage". However the upper parts look more like cinema Classical that 18C Classical to me. The ground floor is of course faced with the 'trade mark' Burton black marble.
