The church of St Mary in East Walton - porch and tower
St Mary's church > Link has a round tower that is believed to date from Norman times. The building as we see it today, including the sagging south porch > Link that leans towards the west, dates from the 14th century. The interior was extensively restored in the 18th century but has retained the C14 font > Link. The three-decker pulpit and stalls > Link were installed in the 18th century, and the priest door in the chancel > Link is topped by a gable that has a six-leaved roundel with a rose at its centre. Adjoining the church in the north is a site where an abbey once stood. A ruined chapel > Link is all that remains.
