Cruddas Park
Cruddas Park
The Cruddas Park flats are at last being renovated. It was either that or total demolition which was also on the agenda for a while. Wimpey's original 1960's style (a Swedish modular system) can be seen on the nearby block. The block in the distance, 'The Sycamores', is more or less finished (at least externally), while the block on the left, 'The Hawthorns', is being worked on now.
Cruddas Park
Cruddas Park NZ2363 : Cruddas Park was named after George Cruddas who was a Director of the Armstrong armament works on Scotswood Road and lived nearby in Dene House. The high rises of Cruddas Park were part of T. Dan Smith's 1960's development, 'City in the Sky', famously used in the BBC series, 'Our Friends in the North', LinkExternal link
