N2 1744 works hard to climb the 1 in 80 incline out of Weybourne station to Holt. It is visiting again for the spring gala from the Great Central Railway (GCR) in Leicestershire. It is owned by the Gresley society who restored the popular tank to running order last year. It is one of few surviving condensing locomotives (although the equipment isn’t working). Running with the Quad Art set both are in mid 1920s Great Northern Railway livery, they worked together on the GNR suburban lines out of Kings cross until the 1960s.
On the back is the LNER pigeon van, not authentic but a nice teak that acts as another brake vehicle.
See TG1543 : Gresley Quad Art Set at Sheringham station for a more detailed history of the set.
Please note this photo was taken on railway property, I was in possession of a line side pass issued by the railway. Going on the line side without one is trespassing.
