Kirklees Priory Gatehouse, Clifton
Kirklees Priory Gatehouse, Clifton
This view shows the early 16C part of the building. It has exposed timber-framing at each end, at first floor level. The timbering for the windows bulges out at the base of the window lights, with decorative carving on the supports. It is at present awaiting approval from English Heritage before restoration work can start. As usual there is a full description of the building in imagesofengland.org.uk.
