The Shingle Spit at Hurst Beach
The Shingle Spit at Hurst Beach
This high shingle bank runs for some 2 or 3 kilometres from the mainland out to Hurst Castle. There is some salt marsh and a shallow harbour behind the spit which has been built up by the tidal race up The Solent.
