Holm oak catkins
Holm oak catkins
This male holm oak (Quercus ilex) has changed from its usual dark green appearance because of the prodigious display of catkins. It stands by the boundary fence of what was once parkland to a "big house", beside Ruins Barn Road.
The pinkish tinge to the hawthorn blossom has not come out well in the photo.
