The Grotto
The Grotto
This is by the path through what is now a nature trail leading to Ingleborough show cave. It is part of the Ingleborough Estate and was built by the Farrar family as a summerhouse. The lady of the house and her friends would ride in a carriage up from the hall to take tea and admire the view. The view is now obscured by trees and this rare example of a north facing summerhouse offers little comfort in the present day.
