Hammersmith Bridge
Hammersmith Bridge
The bridge appears from several angles in LinkExternal link , but this view from the Thames Path on Lower Mall, downstream on the left bank of the river, is across a gridline. Bazalgette's bridge is described at LinkExternal link as "a suspension bridge on wrought-iron chains with 2 pairs of cast-iron-cased pylons, each pair linked by a cast-iron arch". In the foreground is a fan-shaped slipway hard across the tidal foreshore.
