SU7899 : Straw peacock on thatched roof

taken 14 years ago, near to Bledlow Ridge, Buckinghamshire, England

Straw peacock on thatched roof
Straw peacock on thatched roof
The ridge of a thatched roof is often decorated with a bird constructed from thatch and wire netting. Note also the neat pattern of the ridge with criss-cross liggers, probably split hazel, and ornamental cut block. The thatch is covered in wire netting to keep out birds. The thatch is on Callow Down Farm as seen in SU7899 : Callow Down Farm.
