The gables, chimneys and slender leaded wooden spire of the former High Pavement (later Forest Fields) Grammar school LinkLink on Stanley Road, seen through the trees and a zoom lens over the rooftops of Forest Fields in a picture looking over the northern boundary wall of the Church (Rock) Cemetery. The building with two white gables is the Forest Fields Primary and Nursery School on Berridge Road. Taking the picture involved a tricky balancing act on a steep grassy slope between the gravestones, so I'm pleased it turned out so well.
This lodge was built back in the days when there was a racecourse on the Forest and served as a police house. Later it was used by the Park Superintendent. Apparently there is an underground set of rooms which served as the living area, the upper floor being bedrooms.
