Souther Fell and the Glenderamackin river
Souther Fell and the Glenderamackin river, taken 7 years ago
The Glenderamackin River flows towards the camera down the main valley. Bannerdale Beck, not itself visible, flows in the gully across the foreground.
Souther Fell is almost completely enclosed by the Glenderamackin, and every drop of water which falls on it will drain into that river, which flows round it for about 7.5km. There is just the short gap between White Horse Bent and Scales. Mind you, between those points the river loses 220m of height!
