Female roe deer, Black Down, New Forest
Roe deer are most active at dawn and dusk - this photo was taken as the sun was setting and giving a golden glow to the rather brown heather on the slopes of Black Down. A male was nearby but hid more quickly - out on the heathland the deer are never far from woodland shelter.
