The remains of the perimeter track at the former RAF Akeman Street
RAF Akeman Street was a SLG (Satellite Landing Ground) for RAF Brize Norton in WW2 and Airspeed Oxford aircraft were frequent visitors to this part of Oxfordshire during the war years. Several pillboxes remain in the locality. The former grass landing strip is crossed by Akeman Street - the old Roman road.
