The Don Whillans Memorial Hut
The cottage was built by the Brocklehurst Family who owned the surrounding moorland, the estate gamekeeper lived in the mock-castle style building whilst managing the moor for grouse shooting. In 1992 the building was restored and converted into a climbing hut, now leased to The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) by The National Park Authority. Prior to 1992 this was the home of the infamous Doug The Lord Of The Roaches.
