near to Parkgate, Cheshire, Great Britain

Parkgate
Parkgate
Parkgate was once a major port - King William III sailed from here to trash Ireland - but the shifting sands of the River Dee, exacerbated by the dredging of the channel for Liverpool and the introduction of Spartina grass in an effort to stabilise them. left the old harbour wall stranded inland. The tide comes in just twice a year.
