The information board says, "Lenham Chalk Quarry is specially protected for its geological interest and is also important for its chalk wildlife and as part of the dramatic landscape of the Kent Downs. Once used as a quarry and as a landfill site, it has now been re-landscaped and opened to the public at the discretion of the landowner."
