Holy Trinity church > Link
is situated on an elevation at the north end of the village of Long Melford and is one of the great Suffolk wool churches, built almost entirely in the 15th century. The tower, added in 1903 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, is the only modern part of the building. It replaced an older tower which was destroyed by lightning in the early 1700s. The church is renowned for its collection of stained glass, much of it dating from the 15th century and being attributed to the Norwich School > Link

. The survival of the glass is most likely due to its original position in the clerestory lights, beyond the reach of religious reformers.
