Memorial to Wendy Wood
Memorial to Wendy Wood
A famous figure in the story of Scotland's bid for independence, Wendy Wood supported many other causes including the Indian independence movement, and espoused the Icelanders' cause in their cod war over fishing grounds in the 1970s. A highly eccentric but engaging character, she often appeared on Jackanory and wrote a number of books. This tiny plaque is situated beside the north wall of the Old Calton Cemetery.
