1GL bench mark and bolt on old Cowan Bridge
1GL bench mark and bolt on old Cowan Bridge
This bench mark and bolt is #20 on the Milner's Bridge to Bradford First Geodetic Levelling line, surveyed 1842-1844. The mark is on the west face of the arch of the old bridge, facing the north west bank of the beck, not the road. Some trees and scrub have been cleared from the bank recently making it easier to spot SD6376 : Old Cowan Bridge and some bluebells. Another cut bench mark is on the parapet of the bridge almost directly above so they both have the same grid reference - SD6376 : Bench mark on Cowan Bridge.
