All Saints' church in Great Melton
According to tradition the first church on this site was built in around 700AD by companions of the Irish monk St Fursey > Link
. All Saints' church as we see it today dates mainly from the 19th century when it was rebuilt, restored and enlarged, using materials from the demolished church of St Mary's with which it shared the churchyard. The east window > Link
- it was made by Gibbs - comes from there. The ruined 15th century tower > Link
a short distance to the south is all that remains.
