To the left are the ruins of the cathedral destroyed in the bombing of 14th November 1940. To the right the new cathedral, designed by Basil Spence and consecrated 25th May 1962. Epstein's bronze sculpture of 'St Michael gaining victory over the Devil' can be seen on the wall right of centre.
