SD8183 : Gavel Gap

4 km from Far Gearstones, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Gavel Gap
Gavel Gap
This former gate, now an ugly stile of concrete building blocks, is the official end (or beginning) of the Ribble Way.

This is a parish boundary and for some reason the right of way stops at this point although it is a simple matter to continue three-quarters of a mile to join the Pennine Way near Cold Keld Gate.

A year after this picture was taken the gate was restored and the route eventually became part of the Pennine Bridleway
