A brief description can be found here LinkExternal link
On the left is the Clock Tower which was part of the First Lord Armstrong's re-construction works, replacing an earlier coach house and stables. The oldest part of the Castle is the Keep (just right of centre) dates from 1164.
The stonework of the external Castle Wall shows a mix of the original medieval pinkish stones (quarried locally) and the grey stones (from Cragside) resulting from Lord Armstrong's re-construction.
