Redshanks are relatively new colonists in Shetland, only establishing themselves in the 19th century. They are now widespread, although there are signs of recent decline. This bird is going slightly loopy every time a car passes at the moment, as its chicks are nearby see HP5802 : Redshank (Tringa totanus) chick, Sma Waters, near Uyeasound.
