Cerne Abbas, The Giant
Cerne Abbas, The Giant
Chalk hill figure, as seen from ST6601 : Cerne Abbas, viewpoint; many theories have been advanced about its provenance, but the most plausible seems to be that the figure dates from C17, and was cut by a local anti-Cromwellian land-owner, as a caricature of Oliver Cromwell.
