SP1770 : Yorkshire Fog (Holcus lanatus)

taken 8 years ago, near to Kingswood, Warwickshire, Great Britain

Yorkshire Fog (Holcus lanatus)
Yorkshire Fog (Holcus lanatus)
The plant is softly hairy; lanatus means woolly. Common throughout Britain on all types of soil. A pretty grass right through the season but it's a tough perennial weed on the allotment or in a lawn. There is an attractive white-variegated cultivar for gardens.
