SN0732 : Edge of Preseli forest

taken 8 years ago, 3 km from Rosebush, Pembrokeshire/Sir Benfro, Great Britain

Edge of Preseli forest
Edge of Preseli forest
A wide grassy track leaves the car park at the pass height of Bwlch-gwynt, only to fizzle out into moorland with a selection of narrow paths after the edge of Preseli forest is reached. On the 1:25k map the forest is named Pantmaenog forest, but local signage names the woodland as Preseli forest. Bwlch-gwynt means Pass of the Wind, and the effect of the prevailing south-westerly wind can be seen from all the sheep's wool blown across the fence.
