Rhododendron on the northern boundary of the Pondhead Inclosure, New Forest
This rhododendron has spread along the northern edge of the inclosure from private properties which probably had the plant introduced in the 19th century when it was fashionable. On top of the old boundary bank is a six-foot fence designed to keep out deer (as well as ponies and cattle) - this has allowed the flora in the inclosure to regenerate to a much greater extent than usually found in the Forest enclosures.
