NX5053 : Cleared way to the sea

taken 7 years ago, 3 km from Carsluith, Dumfries And Galloway, Great Britain

Cleared way to the sea
Cleared way to the sea
This is the reason for Kirkdale Port's name. Long ago it was a fisherman's cottage and this was a cleared way for dragging the boats ashore. There are also traces of an old jetty. No longer used for boats, rocks and stones are beginning to encroach on the sand. The Machars can be seen across Wigton Bay.
