Sand Martin - Bridgend
The birds nest in drainage holes in the concrete banks of the river in the middle of town. With no success at capturing them in flight it was fortunate that this one alighted on the bank. As they normally feed on the wing I would assume that this individual is gathering material for a basic lining to its nest. It is possible that it has found a new and less energy consuming means of obtaining food than usual or maybe it's just had enough of zooming about.
