Not Stonehenge
The Preseli are known as the source of the bluestone megaliths used at Stonehenge. Stonehenge is often thought of as a kind of neolithic observatory, with certain stones lining up with the point of the midsummer sunrise. Maybe. When walking the Preseli ridge, one can get carried away with these ideas in mind. The Cerrigmarchogion on the eastern slope of Foel Feddau are a collection of very angular natural rock outcrops dipping steeply towards the south.

Of course that doesn't have to stop us from lining them up and ponder the deeper meaning; it's such fun. Looking through the notch of the outcrop in the foreground, the view aligns through a similar notch on another outcrop nearby. In the distance, on the same line of sight, is the ancient cairn of Carn Bica. Unfortunately, the line of sight is only eight degrees north of east, so not quite far enough for midsummer sunrise. Perhaps the druids gave up in frustration, given the topography of Wales, and moved their observatory to flatter Wiltshire. Maybe.
