Sea Cut
An artificial canal constructed to relieve flooding in the Lower Derwent Valley. Built by the Victorians. The canal has little water in it for most of the time. It is used to take excess floodwater. In its lower course the sea cut uses the existing valley and course of Scalby Beck.
