Rigid pipe spoolbase at the disused Evanton Airfield
Rigid pipe spoolbase at the disused Evanton Airfield
One of the former airstrips (1300 metres) and the more modern causeway (another 1300 metres) are used as a spoolbase for the production of rigid oil pipes that are then loaded onto specialised vessels and laid on the sea bed. Also in the picture (right, foreground): small hill of Meann Chnoc, home to one of the less known Fyrish Monuments. Black Isle in the background.
