Hanford School
Hanford School
The school is an independent girls school. It is a hothouse for larger and more famous schools such as Bryanston and Hanford prides itself on the number of girls each year that get scholarships to top schools in a range of subjects. The building is a major Jacobean house (Pevsner) built in 1623 for Sir Robert Seymer. It has one tremendous fireplace which Pevsner describes as being of great vulgarity and ugliness, but the building itself which is mostly original is beautiful stone work.
