Poppies by Links Road, Bamburgh
A variety of garden flowers have colonised the road verge and the edge of Redbarns Links and provide a beautiful summer foreground to Bamburgh Castle. Another common plant here is the Californian sand dune specialist, Yellow Tree Lupin (Lupinus arboreus). It is naturalised in many places around the British Isles. Although it can help stabilise the sand, it does alter the soil in which it grows due to its efficient nitogen fixation, and may also become invasive.
