Dartmoor Forest: shafts at Whiteworks
Dartmoor Forest: shafts at Whiteworks
Two shafts serving the 19th century tin mine are roped off beyond the May trees. Whiteworks was one of the largest tin mines on the moor, worked in the 1820s and again in the 1860s and 1870s; it had probably ceased operations entirely by 1890
