Mouth of the River Cuckmere
Cuckmere Haven (or the Cuckmere Estuary) is an area of flood plains where the River Cuckmere meets the English Channel between Eastbourne and Seaford.

Cuckmere Haven featured heavily in World War II. Pill boxes, anti-tank obstacles, ditches can still be seen. The site was used to confuse bombers into thinking they were over Newhaven, by placing night-lights and setting up a fake runway nearby. During the 16th, 17th & 18th centuries the beach was used by smugglers.
