NT6599 : Puffin (Fratercula arctica)

taken 7 years ago, near to Tarbet Hole [water Feature], Fife, Great Britain

Puffin (Fratercula arctica)
Puffin (Fratercula arctica)
This bird was sitting facing me instead of looking out to sea like most of its fellows, enabling me to get this portrait with the long lens. The coloured bony plates on its beak will be shed at the end of the breeding season, and re-grown in time for next spring.
