NT6599 : Eider Duck (Somateria mollisima)

Eider Duck (Somateria mollisima)
Eider Duck (Somateria mollisima)
This duck has made her nest only inches from one of the paths on the island, and must be well accustomed to passing humans, because she didn't flinch at my approach, and allowed herself to be photographed without moving a muscle. She will soon hatch a numerous brood of ducklings, and as soon as they are ready she will lead them down to the sea.
