taken 8 years ago, near to Tarbet Hole [water Feature], Fife, Great Britain

Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla)
Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla)
Kittiwakes are cliff nesters, sharing the ledges with the auks and gulls, building smelly nests of grass and seaweed. They are smaller and daintier than Herring Gulls or Lesser Black-backed Gulls, with dark eyes and feet. When it comes to noise, however, they beat everything else hands down, with their shrill distinctive calls.
