Spring Wood
Spring Wood
Spring Wood was once owned by the monks of Whalley Abbey and was originally called Oxheyewoode. It is classed as a semi-natural ancient woodland. indicating that there has been a woodland on the site from before 1600. Many woodlands from this period do not exist any more as they were cleared to make way for agricultural land.

Today, Spring Wood has been developed as an area of informal recreation with various tracks and paths through the woods.
