Beach huts, Broadsands beach
Beach huts, Broadsands beach
The beach huts face out to sea across the small promenade. The very safe bathing in the shallow bay is enjoyed by many holidaymakers. The low hill at the end of the promenade offers a public golf course which is used mainly for walking and enjoying the views across Torbay. The only blemish to this perfect day is the green seaweed on the beach. Though this is regularly cleared by the local authority, it can be persistent. But why should we object to seaweed? Is it because it destroys the myth of the crystal blue water and the almost white sand of the holiday poster? But in the land of myth who ever heard of a mermaid without seaweed (or a merman, for that matter)?
