SD9616 : Sign to the Roman Road

Sign to the Roman Road
The footpath climbs a few metres to left of the stone wall. Its "Roman" origins are questioned by some - they say it is more likely to be a pre-historic route over Blackstone Edge. A glimpse of the modern day route, the A58, is left of shot. The Lancashire/Yorkshire border is just beyond the horizon, when the footpath crosses the boundary into Yorkshire it becomes a bridleway.
