Llaneglwys Village Hall
Llaneglwys Village Hall
This Nissen Hut was put up by the Forestry Commission shortly after WW2 as a social centre for their workers and for the local farmers. When the Commisssion sold Brecon Forest in the early 1980s the local residents had to form a Community Association to take over the communal assets, including this building. It was unused, very dilapidated, and surrounded by dozens of tall cupressus trees. These were all felled by the villagers and with aid of Lottery grants the building has been put back to use. There is now a regular programme of events - talks, concerts, films, and so on, attended by people from quite a wide area.
