NO0691 : Glen Lui near Black bridge

taken 8 years ago, near to Muir, Aberdeenshire, Great Britain

Glen Lui near Black bridge.
Glen Lui near Black bridge.
The mountain passes of Lairig Ghru and Lairig an Laogh (pronounced "lui") converge just to the West of here, so these pastures must have looked very verdant and appetising to the Highland black cattle being driven through here on their long walk to market in Falkirk and beyond. The cattle usually arrived at market fatter than they left, thanks to stances (overnight resting places) like this.
